sources of fitness inspirationSticking to a workout routine is one of the toughest things I do on a regular basis.

I have stopped and started so many times that I can’t begin to count them.  How about you?

Here’s the trick  that helps me put on my workout clothes and actually get a sweat on – find sources of workout inspiration.

These sources have to be outside of yourself.  Your little mind is great at rationalizing and finding excuses for not working out.  You need to find workout inspiration that will always be there – no matter how tired you are.

I have found all different sources of workout inspiration.  I turn to these and they never fail to light a little fire in me.  And really, that’s all it takes – a little fire is enough to get you moving.  Before you know it, your workout has begun and that is the hardest part – the beginning.

After you get started, that little fire grows and your workout gets done.

So that’s the secret to exercising regularly – workout inspiration.  Here are my top 3 sources:

Pinterest – Type in Fitness Motivation and you will see all kinds of images, articles and quotes to help you get going.  I personally love quotes.  If I read about 5 – 10 of them, usually one jumps out and I say “yes, that’s what I want to feel.”  Here’s one of my favorites.  I feel like I am part of an exclusive club – the dedicated.

YouTube – Search for your favorite exercise – I often type in yoga, rebounding, and kettlebell.  Just watching someone else workout is enough to motivate me.  I start thinking, “I can do that.”

Challenges – Go to Google and type in fitness challenge.  There are hundreds of different challenges out there.  I have yet to finish one but the idea of getting started works for me.  I usually start one and then tailor it for me for a few days more.

Here’s what I want you to come away with – find motivation to get started!  Don’t look for a perfect routine that you can do forever.  It doesn’t exist.  Don’t worry if you start a challenge and then get bored.  I do that all the time – LOL.

The secret to a regular fitness practice is to find what works for you today.  Don’t worry about tomorrow.  That’s a new day.

Find workout inspiration for today.  Get today’s workout checked off.  Tomorrow, repeat.  That’s it.

As women, we tend to overthink fitness.  We think long-term.  Can I keep doing this workout?  Will I be bored?  How long before I get good at this pose?

Forget about all that.  Just move for today.  Get inspired today.  That’s it.
